The Greater Birmingham Humane Society lovingly remembers one of the pets’ biggest champions.

In loving memory of Carolyn King

Aug. 28, 1950 – Nov. 28, 2014

August 28, 1950 – November 28, 2014

Many of us didn’t know Carolyn away from the GBHS. But, to all of us, it was evident that she was kind, thoughtful, had a keen mind for business, loved animals and was extraordinarily generous with her resources for the things she cared about. For those of us who knew her only a short while, we feel a stinging loss that we didn’t get to know her for a longer period of time.

In regard to the GBHS Board, she never made one statement or asked one question that wasn’t helpful in some way to whatever was being discussed. She was very sharp and insightful. Two days before she died, on Thanksgiving Day, she called the Chairman of the Board, wanting to help in some additional way with the new vet clinic. She could barely catch her breath. She was a generous benefactor to the very end. She will be missed.
