Critter Camp FAQ

How do I register?
Complete the online registration form for your child’s age group and submit payment.

Session 1 Registration – Ages 7-9:  Camp 1

Session 2 Registration – Ages 7-9: Camp 2

Session 3 Registration – Ages 10-11: Camp 3

Session 4 Registration – Ages 10-11: Camp 4

When is the registration deadline?
Registration will end May 15, 2017. Due to the limited amount of space in each session the GBHS will be unable to accept early or late registrations, even with payment. Registration fees will be refunded only if cancelled by May 1, 2017.

Will you provide lunch?
The Greater Birmingham Humane Society will be unable to provide lunch for campers each day. Campers need to bring a sacked lunch each day they attend camp. Please keep in mind that no microwave, oven or refrigerator is available to campers and we cannot guarantee that students will not come into contact with nuts, soy, milk or wheat products.

Where will the camp be located?
All three sessions of Critter Camp will be at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, 300 Snow Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209.

Can I drop my child off late or pick my child up early?
Since early or late drop-off and pick-up can cause a distraction for activities and lessons, we will not be able to accommodate early or late drop-off or pick-up. Campers must be at the adoption center between 9:00 and 9:15 a.m. to participate in camp activities, and all campers must be picked up between 4 and 4:15 p.m.

Is there extended care available for working parents?
Unfortunately the Greater Birmingham Humane Society is not able to offer extended care for campers.

What should my child wear to camp?
All campers must wear their Critter Camp T-shirt and name tag (these will be provided on the first day of camp), closed toe shoes with rubber soles (preferably sneakers), and shorts at least knee length or long pants. Please keep in mind that activities throughout the day may cause damage to your child’s clothing.

How many campers are there in each session of Critter Camp?
Critter Camp is limited to 20 students in each session and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Will campers be supervised at all times?
A trained counselor will be present with the campers at all time.

May I stay and attend camp with my child?
Due to the distraction this causes during lessons and for the comfort and safety of our campers, staff and volunteers, we are unable to accommodate parents and/or relatives staying or assisting with camp activities.

Are there scholarships available for Critter Camp?
Unfortunately at this time, the Greater Birmingham Humane Society is unable offer scholarships for the 2017 Critter Camp sessions.
