Volunteer with GBHS from the comfort of your home! We have several volunteer-from-home opportunities that make it easy to get involved—learn how you can make a difference right where you are.

Open your Home as a Foster Parent

Opening your heart and home to a pet in need is one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference. All you need is a small space and a lot of love—we supply everything else! The GBHS Foster Parents provide short-term homes for kittens, puppies, dogs and cats who need a little extra TLC before they can be adopted. Your spare bedroom or bathroom could be put to use giving puppies or kittens somewhere to grow for two to three weeks, or you could give a dog undergoing heartworm treatment somewhere soft to lay down at night for just a few short months. Click here for more information.

Work with the Pet Pantry

The GBHS Pet Pantry distributes pet food to community members who would otherwise be forced into surrendering due to financial circumstances. As a Pet Pantry volunteer, you will be asked to return phone calls from those inquiring about the program, and to help qualified applicants complete the enrollment process. Once-a-month on-site food distribution at the GBHS is required. Find out more about working with the Pet Pantry under the Current Volunteer Opportunities tab.

Become a Paper Pal

Help us keep tails wagging and kennels clean by signing up to be a Paper Pal for the GBHS. Collect newspaper in your community and then make rolls for us to use in our kennels. Drop them off whenever you can—our kittens and puppies will thank you! Instruction to make newspaper rolls can be found here.
