April is Heartworm Awareness Month, and GBHS will offer pet owners a FREE Heartworm Test and Prevention Clinic.
The clinic will take place on April 18th from 10AM-2PM at the GBHS Adoption Center located at 300 Snow Drive. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED. You can schedule your appointment by clicking here.
Thanks to the Banfield Foundation Community Care Grant and CEVA, this clinic will be FREE.
At your scheduled appointment time, pet owners will drive to the back of the parking lot of the GBHS Adoption Center. A staff member will check you in when you arrive and make sure that all paperwork and information are collected. Once the veterinary team is ready for your pet, pet owners will enter the clinic with their dog on a leash. ALL DOGS ABSOLUTELY MUST BE ON A LEASH FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THEIR APPOINTMENT. Blood will be collected from the pet, and a heartworm test will be started. While waiting for the heartworm test, the veterinary team will do a brief examination. If the test is negative, heartworm prevention will be prescribed and given to you to take home. If the test is positive, you will receive counsel from the veterinary team and treatment options will be discussed.
If a pet is acting too aggressively for the veterinary team to collect a blood sample, we cannot continue with the appointment for the safety of the staff, the pet owner, and the pet.
