She Saved Her Puppy. Now we need to save her.

When Maggie was found, she had every reason to be afraid.

She had survived multiple gunshot wounds. She was exhausted, covered in ticks, and taking shelter beneath a boat in Walker County with the only thing that mattered to her: her puppy. Every decision she made was about keeping her baby alive until someone found them.

When help finally arrived, something remarkable happened.

Instead of running away, Maggie trusted people.

Despite everything she had endured, she allowed strangers to help her. She trusted the hands that lifted her to safety, the veterinary team that began treating her injuries, and the volunteers who comforted her through those first difficult days. Since then, she has greeted every person she meets with the same gentle spirit, proving that even after unimaginable cruelty, kindness can still be stronger than fear.

That trust is what makes Maggie so extraordinary.

A Brave Mother

Maggie never stopped protecting her puppy. Today, Little Fella is safe, happy, and thriving with his foster family because of her. Now, it's Maggie's turn to receive the same love and care she gave so selflessly.

Maggie’s Road to Recovery

Today, Maggie is safe at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, but her journey is far from over. While her puppy is now thriving with one of our trusted rescue partners, Maggie still faces multiple orthopedic surgeries to repair the injuries left behind by the abuse she survived. Our veterinary team has already begun treating her wounds, but she will require specialized surgery, pain management, rehabilitation, and months of recovery before she can finally live free from pain. Her medical care is expected to total approximately $10,000.

It would be easy to look at that number and see a cost.

We see a future.

We see the day Maggie can run without pain. We see the day she no longer carries the injuries someone else inflicted upon her. We see the day she walks into a loving home where she will never again have to wonder if she is safe.

We believe that future is worth fighting for.

The person who hurt Maggie tried to take that future away. We refuse to let that be the end of her story.

Your gift today will help provide the surgeries, veterinary care, pain management, and rehabilitation Maggie needs to heal. More importantly, it tells Maggie that the trust she placed in people was not misplaced.

Every donation, no matter the amount, moves her one step closer to the life she has fought so hard to reach.

If you're unable to make a gift today, you can still make a difference by sharing Maggie's story with your friends and family. Every share helps more people learn about her journey and gives someone else the opportunity to become part of her recovery.

Together, we can make sure Maggie's story is remembered not for the cruelty she endured, but for the compassion that carried her through it.

Thank you for believing that every life is worth fighting for. ❤️
