HOMELESS NOT HELPLESS
Lisa never dreamed she would find herself and her two dogs, Prince and Queen, homeless, widowed, and facing an uncertain future only days after Christmas. But that’s precisely where you gave her hope.
In December of 2018, Lisa’s world came crashing down with the death of her husband only two days after Christmas. The apartment they shared was deemed uninhabitable due to flooding, and she simply had nowhere else to turn. Using the only money she had, she rented a tiny motel room where she shared her only meals – purchased with food stamps – with Prince and Queen.
Then the next blow came - Lisa suddenly broke her leg and required intensive surgery. She was running out of options for Prince and Queen. Little did she know her rescuers were just a click away.
With a simple Google search for “help with pet food,” Lisa found the Greater Birmingham Humane Society Pet Pantry Program. Your gifts gave her hope that she would have the help she needed to care for the only two companions she had during her most trying days. She no longer had to worry for Prince and Queen because you supplied her with everything she needed to keep her best friends by her side. Lisa then focused on her recovery and began to flourish in a new life.
Now, thanks to your support, Lisa, Prince, and Queen are thriving in a new home. Now empowered, Lisa says she cannot wait to give back to the people who have given so much to her. Your gifts allowed Lisa to feel the passion behind the mission and spark a spirit of hope in her heart.
